Salsa shoes
What would you recommend for a beginner who wants to buy his/her first salsa shoes? Concerned members are invited to provide us with brand names, shop locations and styles. I also need specific information about the Dubai's salsa gear market. Where can we find stylish designs at affordable prices? Thanks.
Re: Salsa shoes
I just used normal sport shoes for beginning....but check out the Salsa Jeans store located in Mall of the Emirates and and DFC. I like the style of the clothes over there...

Salsa at MOE is great.. i love the stylish chic yet sporty designs. But i was looking at a store specialized in dancing gear. Sports shop are sometimes too sporty, we need a touch of classiness that we barely find in big sports outlets.

Re: Salsa shoes
There is a great store at the Palm Strip Jumeirah 1st floor that sells great styles of salsa shoes. It's a little pricey but it's excellent in quality. My suggestion is to avoid the really nice looking styles because they tend to be less comfortable. What I like about the salespeople at that store is that they actually tell you what's most comfortable (even if it is at a lower price than the more stylish ones).Their stuff is usually sold out pretty quickly so I suggest you drop in and give them your number. They will sms you when the new stock comes in.
I also recommend that you check out salsa shoes whenever you're travelling. You can get great bargains. During my last trip to Kuala Lampur, I actually went to a somewhat shady part of town to get excellent quality shoes at unbelievably low prices. That was over 2 years ago and I'm still wearing the shoes till now.
As for that top in the pic above, while it's quite sexy, you can't really dance in something like that. I learned my lesson with a couple of "accidents" on the dancefloor. Best to choose something that's more secure. After all, you want to enjoy the dance and not spend your time worrying about potential accidents.
